The story of the political role and colourful private life of Queen Marie of Romania. The granddaughter of Queen Victoria, she married the Crown Prince of Romania in 1893. We learn how she led the country through the horrors of World War I and to victory at the Paris Peace Conference of 1919. The film doesn't shy away from the less glamorous aspects of Marie's life.
