- 主角独白的片头在一个故事镜头之后播放蛮带感，增添前情回顾接近说书体，片尾随演职人员表贴一个小“番外”。有一点《老九门》的风格（缺点）：拍摄浮夸并着力给男演员化妆。但《河神》浮夸程度收很多，化妆只对男配下手——对留洋学生有什么误解？故事情节还是很有意思的，某些桥段和台词也足够有趣。
