- 编导似乎想探讨中国封建社会的本质，以史为鉴，可知兴替。虽然整体基调非常沉重，但收获一批萌大叔还是很愉快的，叔控表示眼花缭乱简直不知该萌哪个。文官们演得一个比一个棒，还有公公们。虚构的浙江案最精彩，那俩二品井货挂了就不好玩了。布景也很神，不少匾额、对联跟情节密切相关，起到暗示作用。
- 最后一集里，嘉靖用小小的言而无信，将帝王权谋的种子，温柔又残忍地埋进世子的血液里。这是帝王家的生存法则，这是长江和黄河的平衡之术，这是驾驭这咆哮着翻滚的泱泱大国的必备根本。太好了，太好了。太好了。这个剧打10星都不过分。
