改编自LouisePenny在2005年出版的同名原著StillLife，该书是作者的ArmandGamache侦探小说系列的第一部，影版拍得非常普通，主要问题在于故事情节太过平淡，就很难想象魁北克能发生什么惊世骇俗的大案，原著中的ArmandGamache是土生土长的魁北克法裔，同时他也是英国剑桥大学Christ'sCollege的历史系毕业生，所以讲一口流利的法语之外他也讲英式英语，我估计这是影版选中NathanielParker来出演这个角色的主要原因，可惜的是NathanielParker自带的英国中上阶层的气质太过明显，让他穿着很北美风格的服饰做出很北美风格的言行非常违和，总的来说他在这部影版的表现用四个字形容就是：水土不服，就感觉是一个英国人尬演加拿大人

不恐怖。心理描述很多，对人性的解读偏多。值得细细读第二遍。
